Niagara Song Book, a culmination of the sound of Japanese musician Eiichi Ohtaki and the visuals of illustrator Hiroshi Nagai, was first published in 1982. Presenting the worldview of the Niagara label, including not only its sound but also its visual expression and editorial sensibility, this book attempts to reinterpret Ohtaki's music as a "replayable structure," while at the same time defining its atmosphere with Hiroshi Nagai's clean, open imagery. Grounded in a deep understanding of American pop, Ohtaki's compositions meticulously constructed Japanese rhythms and melodies, combined with Nagai's urban and seaside landscapes, established an idealized pop image in the early 1980s. This book is more than just a collection of sheet music; it is a record of the Niagara aesthetic, realized through the collaboration of sound and illustration, and symbolically represents the relationship that continues to this day. A remix version was also published in 2025.
