This set of six volumes, covering issues 1 through 6, of "On the Scene," a periodical photography magazine published in the Kansai region in the 1980s. This photography fanzine began publication in 1980, primarily by graduates of the Osaka College of Photography (now Visual Arts Osaka). Seeking to counter the Tokyo-centered photography trends, it was edited primarily by Jun Abe, a master of snapshot photography who remains at the forefront of his field, and Junichi Ota, known for his personal and social documentaries such as "Diary: Ai." This series, representative of independent magazines of the 1980s, featured not only Abe and Ota, but also familiar faces in the Kansai region of the 1980s, such as Mitsuo Igasaki, Hidemi Asai, Shigeo Nakagawa, and Takashi Nakagawa, as well as Shunji Momo and Koichi Kuronuma, known for the legendary photo book "The Horizon," and even well-known Tokyo photographers such as Kazuo Kitai and Shinzo Shimao.
