Tokyo Love is a photobook by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and American female photographer Nan Goldin. Published in conjunction with an exhibition held at The Ginza Art Space in 1994, the book features editor Shigeo Goto, book design by Masayoshi Nakajo, and a photo of Araki and Goldin kissing on the obi by Takashi Homma. "This time, as a collaboration with Nan, I wanted to do something a little different, and that's why I chose portraits," Araki writes in the introduction. The book features 100 teens (including Hiromix) as a "phenomenon of the times, or rather, the customs of the time." Meanwhile, Goldin spent seven weeks in Tokyo photographing young people, including couples, gays, and lesbians (featuring actor Masatoshi Nagase and photographer Yurie Nagashima). Goldin said of her encounters with young people, "What started as a documentary project eventually became a journey back to my own adolescence." This book depicts the youth of Tokyo, each captured in their own style by Araki and Goldin. Scalo English edition. Softcover.
