This photo collection features the work of Okinawa-born Japanese photographer Takashi Ishimune. Born in Taiwan after evacuating in 1945, Ishimune was one of the most legendary photographers, passing away at the young age of 47 in a motorcycle accident. He was also nominated for the "Okinawa Photographers Series" published by Miraisha. He studied at Tokyo College of Photography and worked as an assistant at the photography studio of renowned Japanese photographer Yutaka Takanashi. In 1970, he returned to Okinawa and went freelance. Taking Takanashi's advice to heart, "Photography can be broadly divided into photographs of artists and photographs of everyday people. If you're returning to the island, why not photograph everyday people?", Ishimune continued to photograph while working at construction sites and elsewhere, eventually holding a solo exhibition at the Nikon Salon in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1988. This posthumous collection of Ishimune's works was published after his death by his comrades, including Mao Ishikawa and Kenshichi Hirashiki. It features his masterpiece "Island of Light and Shadow," as well as "Uminchu" and "Iriomote," all of which capture his inner gaze. Includes texts by Yutaka Takanashi, Shomei Tomatsu, Kotaro Iizawa, and others. (The cover has some wet marks and is generally damp and wavy.)
