"Sentimental Journey 2" is a photobook by renowned Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. This book is a re-edited version of Araki's second privately-published photobook, "Continued Sentimental Journey: Okinawa," originally published in 1971 in a limited edition of 1,000 copies. It was edited and designed by graphic designer and Japan's leading photobook master, Hideki Nakajima. While working for Dentsu, Araki visited Okinawa before its reversion in 1971 to photograph the Liberal Democratic Party's Okinawa Reversion Campaign (which he describes as his first trip abroad, as a passport was required). While Araki apparently felt sympathy for contemporaries such as Shomei Tomatsu and Takuma Nakahira, his photographs of Okinawa appear only briefly in the latter half of the book. While the book features fragments of everyday life, including those of his wife Yoko, it also features a reprographic style of manga, paintings, television, and dollar bills. Sewn together with a Kannon-style border in the middle of the pages, this beautifully bound book exudes a unique charm distinct from the rare original.
