This set of six commemorative photography magazines, Issues 1 through 6, was published by "Photographer's Gallery," an independent gallery founded in 2001 by leading Japanese photographer Keizo Kitajima and others. While the gallery currently has just under 20 members, at the time, in addition to the current stable members Keizo Kitajima, Keiko Sasaoka, Naoki Oji, and Yuki Kasa, other artists included Koji Onaka, Asako Narahashi, Keizo Motoda, and Shuhei Motoyama. It is extremely rare and admirable that a gallery that is not affiliated with a manufacturer or a commercial company has been able to continue operating for nearly 20 years under the guidance of multiple members. While the press itself was discontinued in 2015, the gallery continues to hold exhibitions and publish photobooks. The first issue, published the year after the gallery's opening, includes works such as Miyako Ishiuchi's "Mother's," as well as essays by other members, and dialogues and interviews with critics and commentators. Issues 2 and beyond contain numerous fascinating exhibited works and essays. Obi missing.
