This book is a photo book published to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Pleasant Club, one of the oldest amateur photography groups in Japan, which has a history of over 90 years since its establishment in October 1921. The founder of the Pleasant Club was Kiyoshi Nishiyama. He also ran a photo supply store in Nihonbashi and established the club. He also had a long-standing friendship with Shinzo Fukuhara, a leading figure in prewar photography who had a great influence on him, and has held solo exhibitions at the Shiseido Gallery. His representative works include the "Kiyoshi Nishiyama Photo Collection" (1926) published by Ars and "Spring Light Autumn Colors / Seasonal Aspects of Japan" from the Sonorama Photo Selection series. This book contains works by over 10 members, with nine illustrations by Kiyoshi Nishiyama at the beginning of the book, and illustrations by Kanichiro Shimada, who is also known for his collection "Katsura Imperial Villa / The Katsura Place" (1959) (Shimada was also responsible for the layout and afterword of this book).
