Night is a collection of works by American artist Jack Pearson. Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1960, Pearson is known as a writer who expresses himself in a variety of ways, including photography, drawing, installation, and poetry, and is one of the leading figures in American art since the 1990s. With a style that overlays poetic presence on everyday objects and images, he has developed works that stimulate not only the visual sense but also emotions and memories. Using corners of the city, shadows, and fragmentary words, he quietly spins a world that is personal yet universal. This book is a collection of works published by Kukje Gallery in Korea in 2010, and as the title suggests, it is composed around the theme of "night". Portraits of old movie stars collected by Pearson, black-and-white photographs he took, handwritten slogans and poetic phrases intertwine, forming a dream-like space throughout the book. With each turn of the page, faint light and shadow, fragments of memory, and the blur of time emerge, inviting the viewer to a quiet sentimentality. The book includes a contribution by Bruce Benderson at the end, and explores the boundary between expression and silence.
