"Breasts, Flowers" is a joint work by Nobuyoshi Araki, a leading Japanese photographer, and Minori Miyata, a poet. Minori Miyata, a poet who passed away at the young age of 34 (35 at time of death), was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 and had her left breast removed the following year in 2003. She then sent a letter and poems to Araki asking him to take nude photos of her. The photos were taken in 2004 and this book was published, but the cancer had already spread to her entire body, and she passed away in 2005. The book is made up of Miyata's nude photos and a collection of poems, but in the afterword, Miyata writes: "(Omitted) I wanted to show the world that even if I lost my breasts, I am still a woman. In other words, I wanted to encourage women who have lost their breasts to breast cancer in the same way. (Omitted) I consider the scars, pain, and sadness of my breasts to be all my pride."
