The Work of Shiro Kuramata 1967-1974 is a collection of works by Shiro Kuramata (1934-1991), one of Japan's leading postwar interior designers. Between industrial design and art, Kuramata Shiro has created a unique worldview by fusing Japanese and Western beauty, and has earned high acclaim not only in Japan but also overseas. His store designs, including "Issey Miyake Boutique," as well as furniture designs such as "Sing Sing Sing," "Begin the Begine," and "Miss Blanche" in 1988, are outstanding. He was recognized by the master Ettore Sottsass, and became a founding member of the design consortium "Memphis" founded by Sottsass. This collection contains Kuramata's precious early work from 1965, when he left the advertising department of San-ai and established his own office, until 1975. This book is styled as a photo book with a 70's feel, and is in black and white, featuring photos of Edwards, his first architectural project, displays for Seibu Department Store and Kanebo, products such as furniture, and boutique designs for Milk Boy.
