A collection of works by Liz Johnson Arthur, a female photographer currently based in London. She has continued to explore African immigrants around the world and is a pioneer in the "black community" photography world, working hard to depict the complex aspects of black identity. Her achievements are also evident in the fact that she was awarded the "Women in Motion Photography Prize" in 2021, which was also won by Miyako Ishiuchi in 2024 and Nan Goldin in 2025. Born in Bulgaria in 1964, she grew up with a Russian mother and a Ghanaian father, and spent her childhood in Eastern Europe and Germany. She first encountered the black community in Brooklyn in the mid-1980s, and became deeply interested in it. Since becoming a photographer, she has continued to follow the African diaspora around the world. Arthur's work, titled "Black Balloon Archive," is a project that captures people who have been forced to disperse around the world, create communities there, and live beautifully and strongly. This book, her first book, contains over 100 illustrations selected from these projects. Limited to 700 copies. Extremely rare book.
