"Fait" is a photo book by French female photographer Sophie Ristelhuber. After graduating from the Sorbonne University with a degree in literature, Ristelhuber worked at the Visual Arts publishing house. In 1980, Ristelhuber directed the film for Magnum Photos photographer Raymond Depardon's early masterpiece "San Clemente", and since then Ristelhuber has taken photographs herself. She has covered conflicts in the Middle East, including Iraq, Lebanon, and Kuwait. However, she takes a unique approach that distinguishes her from typical photojournalistic news photos, focusing on "scars" and "traces". This book is Ristelhuber's representative work and a masterpiece that will remain in the history of photography, serialized in "Books on Books". It is composed of images of Kuwait, which she visited six months after the Gulf War. Bullets, tanks, clothes, and remains of buildings left on the battlefield. A desolate and changed land. Faint traces of human footprints. A collection of illustrations depicting the vestiges of war in a tranquil and mysterious way from a unique perspective. A collection of journalistic works filled with an unparalleled artistic perspective. Published in Parr & Badger Vol II.
