Living Proof is a collection of works by American photographer David Alan Harvey. Born in San Francisco in 1944, Harvey began taking photographs at the age of 11, and began taking full-scale photographs with a Leica that he bought with money he saved from part-time work. After graduating from the University of Missouri, where he majored in journalism, he got married. Although he was blessed with children, he was in a difficult situation without a teacher or a job. However, his friend Charles suggested that he investigate the realities of black life and publish a book about them in the turbulent times of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement. Harvey thought that if he did this, he would rather take intimate photographs that were closer to black people and live with them, rather than just taking snapshots, so he went into the homes of black families and self-published the documentary photo essay (Tell It Like It Is (1968)). After that, he worked for National Geographic for a long time, and since the 1990s he has been a member of Magnum Photos. This book is a collection of images of hip-hop B-boys and B-girls. Prison, death, success. The law of the streets seems to bring one of these three fates. This is a documentary about young people living in such a harsh environment.
