Although she is not well known in Japan, she moved to Berlin, Germany in 1930, and returned to the Netherlands after two years due to the threat of the outbreak of Nazism. During those two years, she met Moholy-Nagy through an acquaintance, and was inspired by the avant-garde world of the Bauhaus and other schools to establish her own style. She also built her own studio and took on commercial work. In the following year, 1933, she held a solo exhibition in the Netherlands to increase her recognition, and joined the New Photography Movement, actively working on unconventional avant-garde photographic expression, and became famous especially for her architectural photography. This book is a collection of works published in 2007 after her death, and is a large book of over 300 pages that includes unpublished work that introduces Eva Penyo's career to date.
