"Cherchez la Femme" is a photo book by Swiss photographer Luc Chessex (1936-). After studying at a photography school, he went to Havana at the age of 25 to support the revolution through photography. He intended to stay for one year, but ended up staying for 14 years, during which he photographed life in Havana. From 1961 to 1968, he was employed by the government to photograph Castro and Che Guevara, who achieved the Cuban Revolution, and also served as director of "Cuba International". After that, he traveled around South America and returned to Lausanne in 1975. This book is composed of "Cherchez la Femme" (Embracing the Woman), a work that depicts Cuban women at that time, which was exhibited in Havana in 1966. Chessex stayed in Cuba from 1961 and witnessed the revolution firsthand, but in this work he goes beyond the framework of political discourse and introduces women in a multifaceted style.
