Still in the Night (Signed) is a collection of works by Toshio Shibata (1949-), one of Japan's leading photographers. According to Yasuhide Shinbata, who wrote the text for this book, when Shibata, who majored in oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts, went to Belgium to try his hand at artistic expression through photography, he had two indicators to aim for. One was Edward Weston's straight photography. The other was the video work of Peter Bogdanovich, known for the film Paper Moon. From Shibata's photographs, Weston's stance is easy to understand, but it is difficult to find commonalities between Bogdanovich's style and Shibata's landscapes. However, when you look at the illustrations focusing on the image of "Night," you can feel elements that are in line with Bogdanovich's expression of shadow. This is the "Freeway at Night" series, which was held at Soh Gallery at the same time as Shibata's large-scale solo exhibition "Landscape" held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in 2008. Contains 12 plates. Signed by the photographer .
