Departures and Arrivals is a collection of works by American photographer Charles Harbutt (1935-2015). Originally a traditional photojournalist, he became famous for documenting the Cuban Revolution in 1959. He was originally a member of Magnum Photos and even served as its president, but in the early 1980s he became disillusioned with Magnum's commercial orientation and left the group. He then founded Archive Pictures with Mary Ellen Mark and others, working with his beloved student Jeff Jacobson and others. Harbutt also served as an associate professor in the photography department at Parsons School of Design in New York, where he was also an instructor of marching. This is the third collection of Harbutt's work, a collection of black-and-white snapshots selected from his half-century career.
