New York (2018) is a photo collection by Masao Gozu, a contemporary artist and photographer based in New York. The "Window Series" in this book is a project that can be said to be the origin of Masao Gozu, who is famous for his installation works that combine window frames and bricks. The work is composed only of illustrations that capture the scenes from the windows of people living in downtown New York. The subjects are minorities in downtown and Brooklyn, where many immigrants live. Gozu himself was an immigrant from the Orient, and he lovingly captures their true faces that they never show on the street as if they were a mirror of himself. This conceptual book poetically compiles unique personal documents through the "window," which is a node of outside and inside, self and others, tension and relaxation, and a special time and space that is sometimes open and sometimes closed. This book is a catalog photo collection published on the occasion of an exhibition held at the Azumino City Toyoshina Museum of Modern Art in 2018. The book includes illustrations of the Window series mentioned above, Harry's Bar, the Fixed Point Observation 264 series, and even color outdoor installations.
