Visions of Japan is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Inose Hikaru. Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1960, Inose Hikaru studied photography under Inoue Seiryu at the Department of Photography at Osaka University of Arts. Although he has been actively creating works since the 1980s and has held numerous exhibitions, he is known for his limited output due to his extreme obsession with creation and printing. However, there are many die-hard photography fans who are fascinated by his conceptual, story-filled style and profound prints, and the retrospective "Complete Works of Inose Hikaru" published by Getsuyosha in 2015 caused a great stir. The comments written by Daido Moriyama, who is a close friend of Inose's work, are very interesting. The following excerpt: "Inose Hikaru and I are as different in our photographic methodologies as the North Pole and the South Pole. He questions the essence, and I think about representation, but in the end, it's just a copper coin." This book is part of the "Visions of Japan" series of works by famous Japanese photographers published by the now defunct Korinsha Publishing in the late 1990s, and contains works from the 1980s and 1990s.
