"Des Oiseaux (Second Edition)" is a photo book by Finnish photographer Pentti Samaratti. He is a landscape photographer who is very popular in Japan. He taught photography at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, the largest art university in the Nordic countries, and in the early 1990s, when he was over 40 years old, he was awarded a 15-year grant, which prompted him to dedicate himself to the path of photography. Since then, he has traveled around the world, including Finland and other Nordic countries, the UK, Japan, and China, taking photos and winning numerous awards both in Japan and abroad. Samaratti's works are about "landscapes," "animals," and "humans." The vast land, the animals that live there, and the human figures are poetically expressed in monochrome, and are tranquil works that are warm and sometimes lonely. This book is the Samaratti version of the "Des Oiseaux" series, a collection of works with a bird motif published in a series by the French publisher Editions Xavier Barral. This is the long-awaited second edition of the collection that sold out in an instant in 2018.
