"Septembre" is a photo book by Ellen Fleiss, one of the founders of the magazine "Purple". The Purple project, which she started with her partner Olivier Zahm, created the popularity of collection brands such as Martin Margiela and Viktor & Rolf, and led to the rise of artistic photographers such as Wolfgang Tillmans and Mark Borthwick. Ellen, originally the daughter of a gallery owner, is based on "contemporary art", and Olivier and others have taken an "art to fashion" approach rather than the general "fashion to art" approach, which may be one of the factors that produced unique works such as Purple. Incidentally, Ellen began taking her own photographs around 1998, capturing scenes from her daily life and travels, but this book is composed of a sequence of images that Ellen took in Paris on the same day as the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. The left side of the spread is the same image on the entire page, and the right side depicts everyday life in Paris. A tasteful and conceptual book that makes you feel the gratitude for everyday life. Designed by Christophe Brunnquell, who was in charge of the art direction of Purple. Limited to 250 copies. Numbered. The black cover is probably meant to express a tribute.
