"FushiKaden (2024)" is a photo collection by leading Japanese photographer Issei Suda. Born into a family that runs a pub in Kanda, Tokyo, Suda was absorbed in film and photography during his junior and senior high school years at Gyosei. After graduating from Tokyo College of Photography, he helped out at his family's building materials wholesaler, which had been newly established after the war. However, he happened to see an article in the newspaper looking for staff for Tenjo Sajiki, a business run by Shuji Terayama, and applied. He successfully became an exclusive photographer, and has been working as a freelancer ever since. In the 1970s, he published "FushiKaden," one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of photography, which he captured while traveling around Japan. In 1978, it was compiled into a separate collection of works as part of the Asahi Sonorama Photo Selection series. This is the long-awaited new edition of "FushiKaden," which was published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Centre d'Art GwinZegal in France in 2024.
