A collection of works by Japanese photographer Masakazu Terashita, "Tamariyura of Travel 1981-1988". Born in Tokyo in 1962, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Rikkyo University. He is a self-taught amateur photographer, and the photographs in this work are of local trains and the scenery and people of the local areas that he photographed while traveling around the country between the ages of 18 and 26. It was the height of the bubble economy and the height of rapid economic growth, and local trains in rural areas gradually lost their momentum, and many of them no longer exist today. However, there was still some brilliance left in this era, and the students, merchants, and even station staff riding the trains could be said to be a microcosm of the countryside. Terashita continues to release his shutters, thinking of the land, the people, and the trains that connect them. Today, the images are likely to serve as valuable railway photographs, but above all, the beauty of the people and the scenery is captivating. The binding by book designer Hitoshi Suzuki (1950-2023) enhances the splendor of the photographs. Obi missing.
