"Memoires" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Seiichi Furuya. Through the memories of his wife Christine, who took her own life in 1985, Furuya has confronted his own heart and continued to express those feelings through photography. This book is a catalog for an exhibition held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto in 2010. Previously, exhibitions were based on Furuya's concept and selection, but this is a new "Memoire" created by the curator. The following is from the afterword by Rumiko Ishida of the photography department: "Why does this "Memoire," which began as a very personal story, appeal to the viewer so much? Furuya's works have the power to make us think about the darkness in our own hearts, family problems that we cannot tell anyone about, anger against an absurd society, painful realities, and inseparable ties with people, and to make us reflect on the fundamental question of "life": why do people continue to live despite all that?"
