"World I" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Shuhei Motoyama. He was an early member of "Photographer's Gallery," an independent gallery run by photographers including Keizo Kitajima, and his close-up portraits, such as "Peace Around," are reminiscent of Kitajima's early Okinawan works. However, like Kitajima, he has since shifted to landscape-based work, presenting works with motifs from around the country, including his hometown of Kumamoto. His "Japan" series is very popular with fans, and he is currently producing photobooks through "GRAF," which he launched in the 2010s. This is a book-sized collection of works published during his time at Photographer's Gallery, and contains images taken over a 4-5 hour period at Nakagusuku Castle Ruins Park in Okinawa and the abandoned hotel within the park. It is a challenging photo library that ignores the concept of selection, as it is edited without regard to the order in which the images were taken.
